How do I find out if campus is closed due to inclement weather?
Information on campus closings will be posted on the Georgia Tech website. Students, faculty and staff can also call the Inclement Weather Hotline at (404) 894-0500 for information and updates.
Where do I sign up for GTENS?
Students, faculty and staff can sign up for GTENS through PASSPORT at http://www.gatech.edu/emergency/notification.html.
What do I do during a tornado warning?
If a tornado warning is issued, immediately seek shelter on the lowest level, in the most interior room without windows. Check www.alerts.gatech.edu or local news media for updates.
Where can I find information during an emergency on campus?
During campus emergencies, information will be posted on the GA Tech website, at www.alerts.gatech.edu and is available by calling the Emergency Preparedness Information line at (404) 894-7200.
What are the threats and risks on campus?
As with most college campuses, threats and risks at Georgia Tech include crime, hazardous materials, severe weather, terrorism, etc.
What should I keep in my disaster supply kit?
You should keep at least a three day supply of food and water, any prescriptions you take, copies of important documents, flashlight/batteries, comfort items, a change of clothes and any other items that you deem as necessities.
What should I do if the fire alarm goes off in my building?
Immediately leave the building using the nearest safe exit (do not use elevators) and call 9-1-1 to report the alarm.
What should I do if I see a suspicious person in my building?
Immediately call GA Tech Police at 9-1-1 or (404) 894-2500 and provide a detailed description and location of the suspicious person.
What happens if I call 911 from campus?
From campus phones, 911 calls go directly to the Georgia Tech Police Dispatch Center. A dispatcher will ask you a number of questions. Stay on the line and answer all questions to the best of your ability. This does not prevent them from dispatching responders.
If you call 911 from a cell phone, the call will be directed to the City of Atlanta Dispatch Center. Immediately tell the dispatcher that you are calling from Georgia Tech and they will transfer you to the Georgia Tech Police Dispatch Center..

The Emergency Preparedness Certificate Program is open to everyone in the Georgia Tech community. If your office or staff is interested in a particular topic, we can even bring the class to your location.
