Building Managers

Building Managers are an integral part of emergency response. The Office of Emergency Preparedness has developed a number of tools and programs to assist Building Managers with assessing their facilities and making them safer.

Building Manager Email List

The Georgia Tech Police Department maintains a Building Manager email list that is utilized to communicate important safety information, training information and other various emergency related communications to Building Manager’s. To sign up for this email list:

Web – Go to and login using your GT account credentials. Do a search for gtpd- facilities-managers. Click the link that appears. On the left hand menu are available actions. The word Subscribe or Unsubscribe should appear there.

Email – To subscribe send an email to with a subject line of "subscribe gtpd-facilities-managers" (without quotes). To unsubscribe send an email to with a subject line of "unsubscribe gtpd-facilities-managers" (without quotes).

Building Emergency Response Plan (Redbook)

Every building should have a reliable and updated Emergency Response Plan. The Office of Emergency Preparedness has developed a template, which we call the Redbook, that Building Managers can use to develop this plan. The template is simple, flexible and easy to complete – just plug in your facility’s information and you have a plan. Click here to download the Redbook template. Building Manager Meetings

Building Manager MeetingsThe Office of Emergency Preparedness began hosting quarterly Building Manager meetings in March of 2010 to help communicate and share important information. These meetings include representatives from the Georgia Tech Police Department, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities and other various departments. Emergency Preparedness Certificate Program

The Office of Emergency Preparedness in conjunction with the Office of Organizational Development has developed the Emergency Preparedness Certificate Program. Designed primarily for Building Managers, the Emergency Preparedness certificate is open to everyone in the Georgia Tech Community. It will equip participants with tools they need in the event of a campus emergency. Participants will also be exposed to valuable information in the areas of crisis management and disaster prevention. The program consists of 5 required classes and 2 electives.
