How do I give someone access to an area?

  1. After logging into the web client, put the mouse on Personnel. Then click on Search.

  2. Before you can add access to anyone you have to find their record. The best way to find a record is by using the GTID number. You can use their name if you like, but if there is more than one person with that name, you will get a list of all the names. Click the down arrow in the field that reads "First or Last Name".

  3. Select "Social Security#".

  4. Do not enter in the social security number in the next field; instead enter their GTID number. Click go.

  5. You should see the persons name that you are searching for. Many times you will see their name listed twice. This indicates the person has a duo prox card. A duo prox card allows someone to use their buzzcard on mag stripe readers and proximity readers. The proximity part of the card and the mag stripe part of the card have separate records. You can distinguish between the two by looking at the alias field next to the highlighted blue name. The prox record's alias will look something like:
    • PE123456
    • GT123456
    • LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_PROX

If you are changing access to an area that has a proximity reader, then open the prox record. If you are changing access to an area that has a swipe reader, then open the swipe record.

  6. A window should appear. Scroll to the bottom of the window. Click on Add.

  7. Another window will appear. Left click on an area to assign access to the persons record. If you would like to assign more than one area, hold down the "CTRL" key and left click the areas that you would like to select.

  8. Once you have highlighted all the areas that you want the person to have access to, then click ok. The window should go away.

  9. Now you should see the same areas right above the ADD and Remove button.

  10. Scroll to the top of that window, and click save. That window should go away now.

How do I remove someone's access to an area?

  1. Since removing access is similar to adding access, please follow steps 1 through 5 above.

  2. After opening the record, scroll to the bottom of the window.

  3. In the box above the "Add" and "Remove" buttons, click on the area you want to remove access to. If you would like to remove more than one area, hold down the "CTRL" key and left click the areas that you would like to select.

  4. Once you have highlighted all the areas that you want to remove from the person's record, click remove.

  5. Scroll to the top of the window, and click save. The window should go away now.

I cannot find a person in the Continuum database.

  1. Have you searched by name, GTID number, and Buzz Card number?

  2. Try doing a wildcard search by using part of the first and/or last name (i.e., searching for the last name Smi* will list everyone in the database that has the last name beginning with ‘Smi’)

  3. If a person has a staff, faculty, or student buzz card, and you still can not find the record, please send an e-mail to scas-support@police.gatech.edu with the following information: Name, Buzz Card number, and if possible GTID number. Once this information is processed an account will be added to the database.

I found the person in the database, but their card is not working.

  1. Is the person swiping the card correctly?

  2. Does the Buzz Card number on the back of the card, in the upper left hand corner, match the number on the person's record?

  3. Have you assigned the correct areas?

  4. If the correct areas are assigned, try removing the areas and adding them again. Wait about 5 minutes and then have the person try their card again.

  5. Send an e-mail to (scas-support@police.gatech.edu) if you have tried the above steps and the card is still not working.
